Golden Yunnan Dongzhai
The Golden Yunnan First Grade is a wonderfully characterful and balanced black tea from one of the oldest regions of China. As the name hints at First Grade, only the first fresh and young leaves, and the precious buds are hand-picked for this high quality tea.
What makes this tea especially beautiful, is the carefully rolled tea with lots of golden tips.
The tea has wonderful sweet and malty notes. The first infusion is full bodied and mild, with lingering flavours of wild honey. The second infusion has a mild sweetness with chocolaty flavours. The cup is clear, bright and shining amber.
A classic tea of a special kind: full of character, soft and sweet and with a wonderful balance that will not be lost even after a third or fourth infusion.
Produces this tea in the south of Yunnan on the plantation Dongzhai.
After careful harvesting, the leaves are withered there for ten to twelve hours. The leaves lose about 30% of moisture. Initially with a little pressure, the sheets are then processed for one hour on the small China rolling machine, the pressure is then increased progressively. In this process, the cell walls are broken with care, so that the fermentation can start. The tea leaves are then spread and fermented for 10 to 16 hours.
Now in the following manufacturing process, the sheets are placed on vibrating sieves. In the final stage the leaves then are dried for two runs in the dryer.
